Smoakzon atmos boss vaporizer editor rating

The GOOD / Featuring an anodized heating element, the Atmos R2 vaporizer pen offers excellent vapor quality from your herbs and concentrates. Yes, the unit does a good job with your waxes too! The larger body of the Atmos R2 vaporizer means it also has a bigger battery. That means you get to have the best vaping experience for longer periods. And of course, we just cannot miss the bigger heating chamber for more herbs and denser flavors.

THE BAD / Just like the Atmos Raw, the R2 vaporizer pen combusts your herbs. And the heating element could get a little too hot with prolonged vaping.

THE BOTTOM LINE / If you love the Atmos Raw vaporizer pen, there’s no reason not to feel the same way with the R2. You’d even feel more enamored with this new model because of the newly improved features such as the larger heating chamber and battery. If you’re okay with some combustion, coupled with great flavors coming from your vaping materials, then the R2 is your best choice.

What’s New With the Atmos R2

What catches our attention when it comes to the Atmos R2 Vaporizer is its larger size as compared with the Atmos Raw, but the parts remain the same in terms of function. Yes, this new model from Atmos Technology comes with a larger heating chamber and battery. And of course, bigger battery means more draws in between battery recharging. But ‘big’ isn’t just what the R2 is all about. The R2 vape pen is designed not only for dry herbs and flowers, but also for waxes and waxy oils. The anodized heating element makes this dual function possible. This new feature also results in denser flavors from your botanicals.

Coming in colors black, white, grey and black, the Atmos R2 looks sleeker and ‘sexier’ with its better contours and lightweight design.

Design and Performance

At first glance, you’d immediately notice the bigger heating chamber size of the R2. Unscrew the mouthpiece to and bare R2’s chamber open and compare it with that of the Atmos. You’ll see a slightly bigger diameter in the R2. That means more volume for your botanicals or waxes and richer flavors, more potent hits.

Then comes the bigger battery. And as you compare with the Raw and the Junior, you’d appreciate the R2’s power as it offers longer vaping period before your next recharge. After testing the R2, the battery worked for about 25 minutes of continuous vaping. Compare that with the Raw that lasts around 15 to 20 minutes. Then the Junior came in third with just about 10 minutes of battery life given the power button is pressed uninterrupted. But in reality, we don’t turn the heat continuously that long, so expect hours of vaping pleasure with your vape pen.

Then what about the heating coil? No one can simply just choose a vape pen by considering just the herb chamber size. True, a larger capacity means more of your materials placed in one vaping session. But if your vaporizer contains a relatively small heating coil, you’d get little improvements in vapor quality. The Atmos R2, on the other hand, boasts a larger heating element. Yes, it’s larger than what the Raw Rx and Junior have. It can go hotter too, resulting in denser vapors and deeper flavors. If you’ve been used to stronger hits, then the Atmos R2 might just be what you need.

Another noteworthy improvement made by Atmos on the R2 is the power button. Although made of plastic, it sits noticeably protruding from the stainless steel cover of the device. This means you could easily find it with the touch of your hand. The problem with the Raw and Junior is that the flat rubber covering the button makes it a tad harder for you to locate its exact location especially in the dark. It’s just a little improvement we’ve seen with the power button, but sometimes a little change in the tiniest details could mean noticeable improvements when it comes to the end user.

The Atmos R2 vaporizer still sports a rubber mouthpiece to help keep your lips comfortable while vaping. At $139.99, the R2 may be a tad pricier than the Atmos Raw, but all the improvements the R2 definitely worth the buy.

Vapor Quality

If combustion isn’t much of an issue for you, you’d love the thick vapors when using the Atmos R2 vape pen. Be it waxes or dry herbs, the vaping materials always gets effectively vaporized — thanks to the anodized heating element that more powerful and efficient than the traditional coil.

The Atmos R2 vape pen measures 6.5 inches long, dwarfing both the Raw Rx and the Junior, which measure 5.5 inches and 4 inches long, respectively. As you place them side-by-side, you just can’t go wrong with the R2. But this also means that the larger size makes the R2 a little less discreet. Perhaps, Atmos Technology had to sacrifice one quality to make other features stand out.

How to Use the Atmos R2 Vaporizer

1. After unboxing the Atmos R2 vaporizer pen, fully recharge the battery first before using the unit.
2. Once the battery is fully recharged, make sure the heating chamber is screwed into the battery part and the mouthpiece is unscrewed to reveal the heating chamber. This is where you place your waxy concentrates or dry ground herbs.
3. Place some of your ground botanicals or wax onto the heating element, but do not over-pack the tank to prevent congestion that may result in poor ventilation while vaping. Leave about one third of the total tank’s capacity to allow air to circulate inside.
4. Screw the mouthpiece back.
5. To unlock the device, rapidly press the power button five times.
6. To activate the heating element, press and hold the power button. As the vaporizer heats up, place a mouthpiece between your lips and take gentle draws.
7. Happy vaping!
