Pen vaporizers are quickly becoming a trend not just because of their portability, but because it appeals to all genders. It’s style, plus the ease of use and ability to produce vapor quickly, make it a top choice for many who want to achieve a lifestyle free from smoking.
The ability to use it anywhere you want may be its biggest selling point.
But the problem is, there are so many other pen vaporizers for you to choose from. This results in total chaos, especially when you are someone who might be new to vaping.
Obviously, just like any other investment, ease of use, quality, durability, and affordability are important decision factors before you buy a pen vaporizer. Now, it’s time to end your worries, because we have come out with this in-depth review of the five ultimate pen vaporizers that are the best of the best today. A final word of caution to everybody, there are tons of products that are very cheap and with very poor quality – simply very crappy.
Let’s discuss some basics |
Vaporization or ‘vaping’ is different from smoking. The process of vaporizing is different from smoking which involves combustion, which when burned, creates carcinogenic substances such as tar that could be damaging to your health. Talk about cancer.
Vaporization involves a process of heating the herbs, plant or oil at a certain temperature by removing all of the critical components behind, and protecting the material from direct burning.
Because of this, vaping has now become the new and exciting alternative to traditional smoking due to its healthier approach by inhaling therapeutic aromas found in plants or herbs. At the same time, it reduces the dangers brought by the by-products found in the combustion process.
Basic heating methods of vaporizing |
Conduction
The conduction method involves a transfer of heat to whatever object it is touching. In vaporizers, any herb or plant that is needed to be vaporized is placed in a metal bowl (the heating element) to heat up the herbs and to release the active ingredients. The only problem with the conduction method is that it is used to heat materials without temperature control which could become a guessing game. This is a bit tedious because you have to watch out and limit the temperature to avoid the heat from producing combustion instead of vapors.
Conduction vaporizers are normally cheaper because of its limited capability, and challenging settings which prevent it from producing quality vapor.
Convection
Convection heating is the most prominent process being used in many vaporizers today. It is characterized by the transfer of heat by fluid or air movement thus producing the air or the vapor at its desired temperature.
Convection heating is better and more efficient than conduction simply because it allows you to set the best temperature control (most especially digital vaporizers) and it effectively vapes the essences of the herbal blends because the heated air passes through their surfaces. Now on to the reviews!

Puffco Plus Vaporizer |
Rating: 9.5/10 Capability: Dry Herbs Price: $99 - I Want It!
- Unique sesh mode
- Strong and smooth vapor
- Sleek design
- Good, competitive price considering its features
- Easy of use
- Battery life
- Seeping and possible spillage (if not careful)
If you loved the Puffco Pro vaporizer, you’d surely fall for the Puffco Plus even more. In fact, the improvements in the Puffco Plus give it a different feel and far more superior performance than the Pro.
First on the list of improvements is the design. Unlike the Puffco Pro, which comes in separate parts (mouthpiece, heating chamber, and atomizer), the Puffco plus comes with a unibody design.
However, the mouthpiece separates to help the loading of the waxy concentrate into the chamber. As you open the mouthpiece, the bottom part reveals a ceramic tool dubbed as the “dart.”
This small protrusion can be used as a dabbing tool and also helps keep the waxy concentrate in place. The resulting design of the dart and chamber also enhances the airflow coming out of the vaporizer.
Another difference between the Puffco Pro and the new Puffco Plus is the heating element. While the Pro features heating coils inside a ceramic rod, the Plus does away with this part.
The entire bottom part of the Plus chamber heats up, evenly vaporizing the wax material. The absence of any coils prevents giving off rather very strong vapor. The resulting design inside the Plus creates consistently superb vapor quality every time.
The Puffco Plus offers three temperature control settings.
Just click the cloud button four times toggle between the settings. Another notable feature is the “sesh” mode, which allows continuous heat up time of 12 minutes.
This is most useful for users who want longer draws, overriding the 8-second auto shut-off feature.
All in all, the Puffco Plus is several steps forward from the Pro in terms of design, vapor quality and performance.
SToK R2 Series Vaporizer – #ThisThingRips |
Rating: 9.5/10 Capability: Oil And Wax Price: $49.99 I Want It!
The phenomenal SToK R Series vaporizer comes as a pleasant surprise to the vaping world. At times when price dictates the quality of vaporizers, the SToK R Series defies this notion. Why? Priced below $50, the SToK offers you superb vapor quality from your waxy oils.
The heating chamber of the SToK R Series vaporizer comes with a polycarbonate material. It might feel plastic and rather cheap-looking, but this durable material does a decent job in being heat-resistant and keeping the vapors fresh and clean. You’ll be amazed at how the heating element stacks up to the clouds of vapor from the bottom up.
The SToK R Series vaporizer comes in a very lightweight design with a black finish for added stealth. What’s really noticeable with this device though is the thick clouds of vapor that give you that ultimate satisfaction each and every time. As SToK slogan says, this thing really “rips!”
Kandypens K-Vape Vaporizer |
Rating: 9.0/10Capability: Dry Herbs Price:$119$99.95 I Want It!
There’s no denying that at first glance, the K-Vape vaporizer by KandyPens looks more like Grenco Science’s G Pro Herbal Vaporizer. What’s even more surprising is the closely similar features it shares with its closest competition.
But whatever the story behind their similarity, we can’t dismiss the K-Vape’s breakthrough performance and design.Unlike other vape pens that feature heating coils, the K-Vape vaporizer is one of the few that offer true convection technology, promising zero combustion, hence zero smoke.
Plus, it features three temperature settings of low (360°F), medium (380°F) and high (420°F). This gives you greater freedom to find that sweet spot for your personal taste.
The K-Vape also boasts above-average heating chamber size that can carry up to 0.5 grams of your dry herb materials, resulting in lesser time to replace the herbs and more time to simply enjoy your vaporizer on the fly. And you can be sure of pure and clean vapors because of the stainless steel chamber.
When it comes to forming and style, the K-Vape sports a lightweight design with a soft, rubbery finish at the back and on the sides, with the front featuring a shiny look.
Also, KandyPens, maker of the K-Vape assures you that although the entire outer body comes in a rather plastic design, you can be sure the materials used contain no harmful BPA.
With all these advanced features, it’s quite surprising that the K-Vape costs just about $100, cheaper than the most popular conduction-style vaporizer pen that does not even come with heat settings: Simply put, a greater bang for your buck.
Pros:
The temperature settings are a winning feature given that the vaporizer just costs $99.95. Also, the bigger herb chamber means denser and more flavorful vapor.
Cons:
The maximum heat setting can get a little too hot. Also, the plastic outer body calls for improvement if the idea is to make the vaporizer look more elegant.
G Pro Herbal Vaporizer |
Rating: 9/10 Capability: Dry Herbs Price: $89 I Want It!

This is not surprising as the G Pro is designed and works the same way as the K-Vape. It goes down to the designers and manufacturers if this product. But let’s go beyond the technicalities behind it.
The G Pro Herbal Vaporizer also comes with the same design as the K-Vape.
The convection heating technology also comes into play. Also, the heating chamber supports up to 0.5-0.75 grams of dry herbs. The LED light indicates the set temperature. And the device also comes with three heat settings:
Low – Red, at 320°F (160°C)
Medium – Green, at 380°F (193°C)
High – Blue, at 420°F (215°C)
Grenco Science, the maker of the G Pro, is proud to showcase the G Pro as one of the most successful true portable vaporizers.
Because of the heat settings and the convection heating mechanism, you can be sure your dry herbs do not get combusted.
This avoids the production of smoke, so what you get to enjoy are true vapors, no less. To use the vaporizer, just press the power button five times to activate it. Make the same pattern to turn the vaporizer off.
Make the same pattern to turn the vaporizer off.
Pros:
Despite the product being compact and portable, the G Pro still manages to let you choose three temperature settings.
Cons:
The plastic body gives the vape a relatively cheap look and feel.
Source Orb Vaporizer |
Rating: 8/10 Capability: Wax and Oil Price: $128 I Want It!

With a much-simplified design, stainless steel body, more added (and improved) atomizers and magnetic lock feature, this new version might just be what you are waiting for.
The Source Orb 4 Premium Kit offers additional 3 new (and patent-pending) atomizers: SOURCE nail Grade 2 Titanium (Included!), Ceramic, and Quartz coil-less. That’s a total of 6 atomizers in one package. Also, all atomizers with coils are now upgraded with 100% Real Grade 1 Titanium.
When it comes to ease of use, the Source Orb 4 vaporizer comes in a 2-piece design that is magnetically locked together. Imagine easily pulling the two sections apart for easy loading and cleaning! No more annoying screws. Also, the Stainless Steel 303 construction means your vaping material is heated up, vaporized and reaches your mouth without impurities. Well, I have to agree. Good choice – Atmos is the best pen vape out there.
Hmmm. I’ve seen many reviews about the Atmos Raw and people saying that they really, really like it. But I saw something in this review that really piqued my curiousity – the Stok Pen. It looks more promising than the others (but a little more expensive?)
Hi Johnny,
The SToK it’s pretty cool and it’s great for oil. The price point actually it’s pretty like all the others in this category starting at $65. What I like about the Atmos is the fact that this is all in one vaporizer. You can use it with Oil, wax and dry herb.
I’m new to the vaps and quit smoking cigarettes about a month ago I have a cheap pen I bought for 35 bucks at my local tobacco shop. I want to get another one and one for my wife we only do the e juice stuff u can buy at gas stations and tobacco stores what’s a decent pen that’d not gonna break me. I wasn’t to thrilled on any of the ones in this list. maybe it was cosmetic detail.
Atmos herbal vaporizers are the best and it should be used because it is safe and don’t contain nay bad effects in it as they have only safe ingredients in it..

Why is PAX not #1? This person obviously doesn’t know vapes.
Hey Uedukal, thanks for your feedback.
The Pax isn’t on this list because this list contain only pen vaporizers and the pax isn’t a vape pen yet.
Ultimate vaping device that is very economical and nice to use..
Is the SToK Pen good for a first pen? There’s so many choices but they all seem pretty similar…
Pax2 and the Ti Grasshopper!!! These pens are going to cost you in long run. I have G pen and top broke 3 times. They covered 1st one but after that I had to dish out 20$ a pop. My PAX2 is AWESOME! And sexy as hell! Red blue and black dress on lol
I wanna dry vap pen… only if i can buy replacement coils… any help?
Thanks for sharing this wonderful article with us. I would recommend others to read this great content.
I don’t really like any of the pen vapes for herb. For concentrates, I like a pen but I prefer something like the pax 2 or the firefly for herb on the go.
My husband uses vape juice and currently uses an E Cig… old school I know. He likes it cause its discreet at work, but he wants a new one. Which pen can he use with just the juice and not wax or dry? Not too expensive.
i wanna know more about your vaporizer for wax
I use to love Atmos but there’s now more competition. The little flat pens that they call trippy pens work the best for wax. Vaping wax is a skill when using these pens, the trick is to not put too much. I have now moved to stait “vapen” and traditional flower for my fix. The vape pen is for indoors and public places and the flower is for the extra kick.
hi im after a vape pen for weed products because i cant put smoke on my lungs anymore im after a compact but good one and the easy way to use but still get the kick like u can buy the cartriges to fit whats the best etc and where to get them and prices please

Linx Hypnos Zero! I haven’t tried any of these other pens so I can’t compare but my Hypnos blows me away every time I use it.
