THE GOOD / The Atmos Boss guarantees zero combustion. That means no smoke, just pure vapors for a healthier vaping experience. And despite having an embedded heating element, the Atmos Boss still maintains fast heat up time of about 20 to 30 seconds. It also comes in a user-friendly design, having only one button for both power and heating element control.
THE BAD / Compared with other vaporizer pens, the Atmos Boss is a tad pricier. Also, the quicker automatic shut off feature is comparably shorter than that of other vaporizer pens. This could result in frustration especially for those who prefer continuous, uninterrupted vaping.
THE BOTTOM LINE / All in all, we just love the Atmos Boss vaporizer with all the dramatically better performance in terms of vapor quality. It may be a bit wider in diameter as compared with other vaporizer pens, but we understand where the extra bulk is coming from a more integrated and sophisticated heating mechanism to save your herbs from combusting. So all in all, it’s two thumbs up for the Atmos Boss.
What’s New With the Atmos Boss
The Atmos Boss vaporizer is one of the newcomers from Atmos Technology, and obviously, the company has positioned it as the answer to that almost never-ending controversy about vaporizer pens burning dry vaping materials.
With the Boss, you won’t have to worry about inhaling smoke as the heating chamber is designed in a way that the anodized heating element is embedded away from your dry herbs, preventing direct contact and combustion in the process. And you will notice the result yourself to be true, as the used up herbs come in brownish to orange color. This is evidence that no burning took place and that the material was only subjected to heat lower than its burning point.
With all the new features, it seems the Atmos company has done a good job in improving the image of vaporizer pens on the market. It’s been a few years already since the company released its blockbuster pen, the Atmos Raw. And despite the controversies and concerns of some about the tendency of the Raw to combust the herbs, it’s still the best-selling vaporizer pen. And with the unveiling of the Atmos Boss, even the health-conscious are now expected to join the bandwagon.
Design and Performance
Weighing only 2.7 ounces, the Atmos Boss is designed to be discreet, lightweight and simple to use. Although it comes in a wider body, this device maintains its pen shape for discreet vaping. However, we can’t help but notice the larger size and the more obvious design of the silver colored version, which makes it less discreet compared with other vape pens. But if you really don’t mind how more noticeable it looks, you’d be amazed by how it does wonder with your dry herbs.
On the inside, the Atmos Boss features a powerful anodized stainless steel heating element that is embedded deep inside the heating chamber to keep it from directly touching your dry herbs, preventing any chances of combustion. And because the heating chamber is made of steel, you can be sure the vapor coming out from your botanicals is pure, without any different smell otherwise present in cheaper vaporizers with cheaply soldered parts.
As of the moment, true vaporizer pens having the size comparable to the Boss still lack the adjustable temperature controls, which could be a very good selling point. The Boss has its temperature set to about 380-390 degrees Fahrenheit, hot enough to give you thick flavors, but not too much to burn the dry plant materials.
In addition, just like the other Atmos vaporizers, the Boss also sports a safety feature, requiring you to press the power button five times to unlock it or turn it off. Once unlocked, press the power button to power the heating element. And what’s good about the Boss is that it quickly hates up your herbs in just 20 to 30 seconds. Then the auto shut-off mechanism will turn the heat off after 50 seconds. Yes, the Boss obviously has a significantly shorter auto shut off time, but this would probably save you much battery power in the process.
In addition, what’s good about the Atmos Boss vaporizer is the 3.3 – 4.2 volt PCB/IC protected 1200mAh battery, which you can easily unscrew from the herb chamber event when not in use.
Portability and Discreetness
Because the Atmos Boss vaporizer comes in a pen style design, you get to enjoy your favorite flavors without catching much attention especially if you’re in a public place.
Measuring about 6.5 inches in length and about 0.8 inches in diameter, the Atmos Boss is a little bit wider & bulkier than the other slimmer pens on the market.
So, we give this device an eight out of 10 in terms of discreteness.
By now, it is very obvious that vapor quality makes the Atmos Boss a true winner. We’ve tested the device, and it turns out that it still maintains its dense vapors. The flavors are more subdued, without any trace of smoky taste and smell.
How to Use the Atmos Boss Vaporizer
1. After unboxing the Atmos Boss vaporizer pen, charge the battery for about 90 minutes to two hours. The LED at the base of the device will turn bright purple, and the indicator light on the charger turns red. You’ll know the device is fully charged when the indicator light turns green.
2. Once the device is fully charged and unplugged its time to put it to work. Fill the herb chamber with your finely ground herbs to up to ¾ of its full capacity. The extra space will allow proper circulation while taking the draw.
