Cardiovascular imaging using advanced technology

Advanced imaging methods such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) angiography, and 3D echocardiography are used by our doctors to assess how the heart looks and functions. In the northeastern United States, NewYork-Presbyterian is one of the few centers that offers cardiac positron emission tomography (PET). Nuclear imaging technology measures blood flow to the heart with greater resolution and with one-tenth the radiation of conventional nuclear stress testing.

Arrhythmia Care with a Targeted Approach

The latest treatments are available to restore proper heart rhythm and reduce your symptoms. Atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation, atrial flutter, and other heart rhythm problems can be treated by:

Treatment of Coronary Artery Disease Comprehensively

Cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, and heart surgeons at this center are exceptionally skilled at treating people with coronary artery disease. Patients over the age of 80, those with other medical conditions, and those with limited treatment options are some of the highest-risk and most complex patients we treat.

As a result of balloon angioplasty and stent insertion performed by our interventional cardiologists, clogged heart arteries are opened and blood flow is restored.

The heart surgeons at our hospital are among the best in the country when it comes to coronary artery bypass surgery. It is possible to have the surgery through small incisions (minimally invasive or robotic surgery); “off-pump” surgery, which doesn’t require a heart-lung machine; or hybrid surgery, which incorporates bypass surgery and intervention. Minimally invasive and robotic heart operations are performed by our surgeons who are among the most experienced in the country.

How Does Cardiology Work?

Cardiology is the study of the heart and blood vessels, also known as the cardiovascular system. Adults in the United States die most often of heart disease, making cardiology an essential part of modern medicine. A cardiologists assesses heart health, diagnoses cardiac conditions, and treats a variety of heart-related conditions.

We offer a broad range of cardiovascular services including prevention, diagnosis, and surgery. In addition to scans and tests, these services can include outpatient procedures, medications, and surgical procedures. To determine the most viable tools and care strategies, cardiologists assess a patient’s specific condition and history.
