Many empirical researches have shown that more than 20% of women cannot reach orgasm or do not feel pleasure when having sexual intercourse, and many others have trouble lubricating or experience pain during intercourse.

Having a satisfying sex life improves your mood, leads to better health and rest, less stress … So it is essential to enjoy it!

Therefore, today we want to talk about sex as it interacts with the use of Cannabis.

Cannabis consumption before sex

The relationship between sex and Cannabis is complicated. Sometimes it can lead us to remove the desire to maintain relationships and make it impossible to do so, and other times it can intensify the experience.

With a simple search on the internet, we will find hundreds of anecdotes about how Cannabis intensifies sexual pleasure, but we want to know if this is the case and why it happens.

As we always repeat, research on Cannabis is lacking to help us clearly explain the effect that marijuana use has on sex. However, there are some interesting studies.

We found a 2017 investigation by Drs. Michel L. Eisenberg Andrew J. Sun, from Stanford University who decided to investigate the association between marijuana and the frequency of sexual intercourse. To study this issue, they analyzed 51,119 surveys of people of reproductive age (28,176 women and 22,943 men). They found that marijuana use was NOT associated with impaired sexual function. In fact, Cannabis users reported having sex more frequently than non-users.

Dr. Monica Grover, who works as a gynecologist in NYC, has also studied Cannabis use before sex and comments that “ using small amounts of marijuana before intercourse increases libido in women, which makes release endorphins and increase vaginal lubrication. ”

ATTENTION!

Cannabis consumption factors that can affect sexual performance

As we discussed, Cannabis can intensify the experience or cause us to lose interest in sex. What makes us have one experience or another?

The strain we are using

In general, Sativa varieties in small quantities could increase the desire and intensify the experience; while they tend to have a more narcotic effect, they would not be recommended. Most current genetics are hybrids, so it is important to see the description of the effect of each variety.

Of the good stuff, a little

The dose used and our tolerance level also influence performance. If we do not have much experience with weed, it is better to consume small amounts. It happens a lot that being very high makes it difficult to maintain concentration on sex, and finally, we do not achieve the desired objective.

Physical/emotional state

Finally, if we want to have sex while high, it is good to ask ourselves how we feel both physically and emotionally. Smoking to maintain relationships while tired or in a bad mood can be counterproductive.
